When I connect my computer to tv using HDMI I get no sound coming out from the TV, just picture, the sound comes out from my Computer. Do I need to buy a different cable or change some settings around? Or what?

If soembody could point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.

In order to get sound you will need to connect the audio cable where you have one audio connector at one end and a dual connector at the other end.
Connect the single connector to the audio ouput of the pc and the dual connector to the audio input on your TV screen.

My small notebook has a VGA, while my TV only has S-video! What can I do? Can’t I find a VGA cable with a S-video on the other end?

Thank you

Yes, there are indeed VGA/S-Video adapters. I did a quick search on ebay typing "VGA S-Video" and found lots of the adapters. Here is one for example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Laptop-VGA-TV-SVideo-RCA-Composite-Adapter-Cable-/130521934320?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e63b6a9f0

The video quality wont be very pleasing in comparison to modern digital standards such as HDMI but it will work nonetheless.

Cheers hope this helps.

0 How to connect PC to TV with Sharp Aquos LED 32This video shows how one can have an extension to the PC monitor with the Sharp Aquos LED 32″ TV and use it as the screen of the PC. I have used VGA cable here. To customize PC, right click on desktop, go to ‘personalize’; then click ‘screen settings’ ; click on the ‘Second box’ and select ‘extend desktop on this monitor’. On the TV select the menu ‘RGB’ video (or HDMI or S-Video or Composite, etc. depending on the cable you use) then you are good to go.

I know I can do it with CyberLink PowerCinema by connecting tv cable directly to my PC, but I’m not getting very clear picture. Is there any way I can record it directly from TV, by connecting pc to tv and using it as a monitor. TV supports HDMI and can be connected to PC (that’s what manual says at least) and I have all the necessary cables

btw TiVo and DVR are not options, you can’t get them anywhere in Bosnia

If your TV tuner isn’t getting good enough quality, you may want to get something along the lines of a Pinnacle Dazzle Video Creator or other Video Capture card, and hook the video out from your cable box or dvd player to it, then you will be getting the same quality as you get on your TV.

Hello i have a M4A88T-M/USB3 mother board in my computer and i am wondering if i can use the hdmi ouput to connect to a surround sound kit? Id also like to connect the computer to the tv, so i can have nice widescreen icon biggrin Buying surround sound equipment to connect a pc and tv to.? .

Can i simply connect the computer to the tv via the hdmi ouput and then connect the tv to a surround sound kit via hdmi/optical? Will this recieve surround sound from the computer?

Any suggestions to do with buying a surround sound kit are also appreciated!

On the HDMI to the TV, You bet. You won’t need glasses to see it. HDMI carries audio and video, and will get the audio to the TV. You probably have an audio out on your TV that should work to connect to surround sound. Make shure you HDMI audio out enabled in you PC and the correct drivers installed. I don’t have a suggestion on surround Kit. There are just too many out there, Sorry.

Connecting PC to HDMI TV
Here is the easiest way to enjoy your favorite movies and television shows over a broadband internet connection on your computer.
Turn your computer off, and turn it around to view the rear of the unit. Find the cable that comes from the computer’s monitor, and follow it to the back of the PC.
The cable will be plugged into the output of the video card, which will be either a 15-pin VGA port or a 29-pin DVI port.
If you are fortunate, there will be a second port directly next to it, of either the DVI or VGA variety. On the newest machines, you may even find a regular HDMI port on the card.
Choose the connection for video output. If your computer has an HDMI port, you can simply connect an HDMI cord of the correct length between the computer and the TV.
Otherwise, you will need to make a few decisions. If your computer has only a single video output, and it will not be used solely with the television.
You may want to invest in a new video card. Plug one with either a DVI or an HDMI output, and install it in an available slot, according the instructions included with it.
If you intend to use the VGA output on a single-output or dual-output card to drive the HDMI display, then a special device will be needed to convert between the formats,
and the price of the converter is actually about the same price as an entry-level video card that will be easier to use with your TV.
In that case, it may be a wise idea to upgrade the card in order to obtain a DVI or HDMI port.
However, if your chosen output port is of the DVI variety, an inexpensive DVI to HDMI cable can be purchased to convert your computer’s output into the proper HDMI input for your TV.
